The play-off race in the 2020 Indian Premier League is well and truly alive after Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals suffered comprehensive losses in Saturday’s double-header.

Sunrisers Hyderabad remain the masters of their own destiny, with David Warner and his men consigning RCB to a five-wicket defeat in Sharjah. The victory means that SRH are guaranteed a play-off position if they beat table toppers Mumbai Indians in the final league clash on Tuesday.

A solid bowling effort from the Hyderabad bowlers restricted RCB to just 120-7, and it was a total which ultimately posed no challenge for their batsmen.

In the first clash of the day, Delhi Capitals’ slide continued with Shreyas Iyer’s men falling to their fourth consecutive defeat in the tournament. A sorry batting performance saw Delhi post a paltry 110-9 in Dubai before Mumbai’s batsmen chased down the target with nine wickets to spare.

The victory confirmed Mumbai’s position as the toppers of the league phase, while the remaining three play-off spots are open to as many as six teams on the table.
