Marcus Stoinis shone with both bat and ball to help the Delhi Capitals advance to the final of the 2020 Indian Premier League. The Australian struck quick-fire 38 runs as an opener and claimed three wickets with his medium pace as Delhi beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 17 runs in the second Qualifier.

Stoinis combined with Shikhar Dhawan in an excellent opening partnership for Delhi, with the latter going on to score a fine 78. Despite the superb start, Delhi stuttered in the middle-overs with Rashid Khan applying the choke with his leg-spin. It took an electric cameo of 42 runs from Shimron Hetmyer to reignite the innings as Delhi ultimately posted a total of 189-3.

Hyderabad’s response got off to a poor start, with skipper David Warner among the three batsmen to be dismissed in the powerplay. However, Kane Williamson’s well crafted 67 and some big hits from Abdul Samad kept Sunrisers in the hunt until the final moments.

An excellent penultimate over from Kagiso Rabada decided Hyderabad’s fate, with the South Africa fast bowler picking up three big wickets to end the run chase.
